MSW 2020: AllDolledUp
Today I'd like to share this long awaited interview from one of my best friends, stardoll's new MSW, AllDolledUp (ADU). I supported her from the very beginning, and it seemed that every person I spoke to about her already knew her and was already voting for her daily.
ADU is a kind, outrageously truthful friend that always has your back. I've called her on countless occasions freaking out about one thing or another and she was always there for me to help calm me down and fix the problem. I've known her for 2 years, but she's been here on Stardoll so much longer. This queen has been designing and sprinkling love generously around Stardoll for more than a decade. She is the epitome of grace, a fair player, and a MSW that I and many others can stand behind who ran a fair and interestingly creative campaign. Without further ado, I give you ADU.
1) What was your initial reaction upon finding out you were MSW 2020?
My initial reaction was confusion and shock. Most of all, I was relieved that my thirty-day long MSW campaign was not in vain. The shock of winning first place left me and my friends overjoyed and giddy. Several people told me they had dreamt a vision of my doll winning MSW, weeks before I actually won. (Uncanny communication of the porous mind.) I didn’t let negativity stop me from campaigning this year. I was happy to realize that I was right about how liberating it would feel like, to finally win. I told myself this would be my last attempt at MSW: I’d give it my all in 2020 and thinking positively worked out.
2) How do you think your unique campaigning style contributed to your success?
My MSW journey first began in 2017, when I finally placed in semi-finals for the first time, but I wasn’t ready back then. I believe I’ve learned to win through losing (a-lot). I achieved finals for the first time in 2018 and got 19th place. In 2019, I took the website by storm and tried really hard to prepare for MSW. I earned 9th place alongside my friends. My campaign has always been all about creativity and representing people of color everywhere. I’ve struggled with mental illness for years, and art has always been my own way of navigating through life. I tried my best to share my passion through my campaign, inventing new ways to interact with people that wasn’t just spam, but actual fun and games, and “marketed” the star out of my doll. I shared my personality, sense of humor, and my time with everyone I spoke too and met. I believe Miss Stardoll World is actually all about your personality, your doll and the amazing world you have created for yourself.
4) What do you think of the prizes for MSW this year?
I love the blue theme and blue winners’ items (#ravenclaw)! As for the mask, let’s just say I had some fun recreating a wastelander look inspired by the Mad Max franchise. (I’m a big science/dystopian fiction fan.) The 7,000 Stardollar prize will fund my new designs and future giveaways ;) It was so cool to see the real-life versions of the tiara, mask and dress. I’m really excited about my doll earning a spot in the Stardoll Hall of Fame. My goal was to share my creativity, my designs and personality with others, and inspire many along the way. It would be great to see this hall of fame concept implemented year-round into any part of the contest’s webpage, that way people can conveniently look at previous winners and have their campaigns inspire new members.
5) Is there anything you'd like to say to your supporters and the people who voted for you daily?
I want to meet all of you and give you a BIG HUG. Thank you so much for your messages of support. Thank you for having my back, and for defending my integrity when it got tough. I’ve played this game on and off for 14 years, and I have met so many kind and talented people in this community; when I sent out the bat signal about my campaign, Y’all really came through both as #teamADU and as my real friends. So many people messaged me saying they believed I would win, confiding that they never saw a campaign like mine before. Some of you voted my suites, some of you voted because you liked my presentation, some of you voted because you enjoyed my blogs, some of you voted for my designs, some of you voted and messaged me that you’d like to see black-Latina girl magic on the winners’ page, and I’d also like to complete my speech by saying winning wouldn’t have been possible without your vote, but more importantly, you showed me that nothing in life is achieved alone. We all need friends and sharing this tiara with you has been so much fun. (I’m proud of all my friends that made it to semis and finals this year, y’all deserved and rocked it.
6) What are your plans post MSW, do you have any designs in mind?
After winning MSW, I look forward to focusing on my other interests and posting new videos to my Youtube channel. I’ve achieved everything I’ve wanted achieve on Stardoll: I became a Starblogger in 2017, won the Stardoll’s Next Top Artist contest during Callie Con 2020, completed and saved hundreds of suites and designs over the years I’ve played this game, achieved 84/87 achievements on my trophy case, I learned to design my own HTML presentations, created clubs and most importantly, met so many amazing people and made cool friends from across the globe. My Stardoll experience really feels complete, my doll can go into retirement now…
Just kidding! ALL DOLLED UP FOREVER!!! (At least until the internet as we know it, phases out of existence.) I will never stop designing or making art. I may be focusing on my real life, but you can still keep up with my doll and designs from time to time by visiting my suite or social media: @alldolledupstardoll
7) Do you have advice for people planning on running for MSW in the future?
I want to advise future MSW contestants to be mindful and aware that campaigning is very time consuming. This is Stardoll’s biggest contest, with the fiercest and most committed players in the game competing for the tiara and a spot in the hall of fame. Establish yourself in this community, create your own designs, and give other contests a try in order to prepare for the MSW competition. All full-time students should avoid campaigning, your education is more important!
Campaigning for MSW taught me that sometimes you win and sometimes you learn. I recommend to all future contestants that having a competitive spirit is crucial, but that also means learning to accept loss is just as valuable as winning. I believe now that futility is really important. Knowing when to stop is actually the right and healthy thing to do. Please avoid burning out too fast and practice responsible gaming. Spamming and bribing won’t guarantee your win. You can only win and advance through each round with real votes from real people that love and support you daily.
Style your doll and create a suite that stands out. Be on your best behavior, on and off the game. Add new friends, join clubs & parties. Don’t take it so seriously, remember to have fun with your friends and most of all, showcase your passion for Stardoll with everyone in this community.
