Dealing With Phobias!

Hi Dolls!

Over the weekend, I decided to buy a pet lizard because I've always loved them. I bought a bearded dragon and I named him Spyro! He's so cute, but the problem is - I'm terrified of his food! Luckily, he only needs live insects once a week, the rest is leafy greens.

This still means I have to face my insect phobia once a week! If like me, you have an insect phobia, then I would suggest taking it one step at a time; you don't want to overwhelm yourself with the anxiety that said phobia gives you.

I started off by getting my dad to show me how it's done, and then I did it myself - but with him next to me. I would suggest you don't try this on your own until you feel comfortable enough! I'm still not at this point yet, as it has only been 2 days since I brought Spyro home.

Another good tip is to look at them as a food source, and not as the insects that you fear so much. Find a good technique of getting them out of their container (You can use tweezers, because I don't like picking them up with my bare hands!)

I'm, not there just yet, but I feel like I've taken a big step that I can be proud of. I would normally run away crying at this point, but I feel very proud that I managed to feed him myself yesterday.

Whatever your phobias are, facing them is the only way to overcome them! Just make sure you take all the time you need to get yourself to that point!
