Young Stylists

Hi Dollies!

Last week, I had the pleasure of my god-parents' company when we had a lunch catch-up with some family friends. They have two children ages 6 and 8, and they're absolutely adorable. We played a little with my doll and they decided they wanted to dress me up. I have to say, despite their tender ages, they have a surprising sense of style.

These first two outfits are created by the year 2 girl. I love the grey pairing, but what is especially astounding to me, is how she made the challenging ruffly blouse in the second look work so well! I think the monochromatic white keep the look simple enough to let the pieces shine through without overwhelming the outfit.

These two outfits are created by the kindergarten boy. Yet again, he is also quite good at matching colors, but I also think it's lovely that he would go the extra mile to find matching accessories: the carnival masks! His choices are a lot more bold, but that of course comes with his unrestrained character and young age. It inspired me to write 2 fashion rules:

1. Fashion is an artform. Don't be afraid to push the boundaries and experiment a little, you never know what you'll discover.

2. Take inspiration from everything and everyone, no matter what! Don't let the prejudice of age or reputation get in the way, I'm sure deep down everyone makes their style choices for a reason.

So, what do you think? Are these looks wearable to you, and can your style meet their uniquely creative standards?

Take care,

♡ Joanne
