Let's Read!

há 98 meses

I am a major bookworm; reading is one of my favourite past-times. I love the way that a book can transport you to another world, teach you, and touch you. I'm always confused when people tell me they don't like to read. Maybe you're one of those people, maybe reading has been a challenge for you. But reading can be really fun, and it's pretty good for your brain, too! Here are some ways to get past the obstacles stopping you from reading:

Try some different genres. Maybe you grew up reading books that didn't interest you, and that turned you off from reading. Try reading books by different authors, or things that aren't books! Blogs, newspapers, biographies, whatever interests you! Fiction or non-fiction, formal or informal, I can practically guarantee you'll find something that grabs you.

Read socially. Book clubs are a really cool way to meet new people and read new material! The structure of a book club makes sure you read a certain amount every week. You could read out loud with a parent or friend and make it through a long book in the blink of an eye!

Read without a book. I won't get into the whole e-reader versus paper books debate, but it's definitely true that e-readers are convenient ways to read wherever you are. You can buy a lot of books for low prices, and maybe your local library has an option to loan e-books for a few weeks. There are also audiobooks, so if words on a page are a problem for you, you can listen to the book being read to you.

Do you like to read?

Til next time!
